Parking lots Security Surveillance
The use of security surveillance cameras has expanded drastically during the past few years. Not only have they demonstrated a marvelous performance when it come to protecting residences and business facilities, but they have also proven to be extremely helpful in surveying areas of mass transportation, such as airports and underground metro stations, as well as inside parking lots and other open spaces. These surveillance cameras systems come with multiple features that provide the user with a powerful supervising experience over any property. The footage that they produce is normally recorded and stored for future observation; it can also be used as evidence in a court of law if needed.
Parking lots are locations that are often targeted for theft. Thieves may steal from the car or even steal the actual car. The lack of supervision in these areas make it relatively quite and safe place for thieves to operate and break into the vehicles without any disturbance. Further more, criminals with no background in auto theft may wait for an individual to open his car and then attack him/ or her in order to gain access to the car, which makes it a very dangerous situation for the visitors. Although not common, hijackings and even murder are also likely to happen in parking lots quite easily. Also, Fights and other road rage incidents might flare up every once in a while. Various other crimes can take place in these open spaces if left unmonitored.
A particular case that comes to mind, it shows how easily theft and deception, can occur in a parking lot. This incident happened in San Jose, California, in a mall’s parking lot. This parking lot normally does not have any attendant, it was free for everyone to come and park their car. A jobless man took advantage of this unmonitored facility and appointed himself as parking lot’s attendant. He stood at the entrance of the parking lot and started to collect money from the mall’s visitors just to park their cars. Luckily, a news station got wind about him and they decided to expose him. They secretly recorded him on camera from their parked car. Then suddenly they got out of their car and confronted him while recording the footage. Upon realizing that he was exposed on national television he did not deny that he was deceiving people and promised to never do it again. This case would have been easily prevented if the parking lot was supervised by a simple set of security cameras.
The mere presence of these cameras in the parking lot will deter away crime. Culprits will immediately realize that this location is supervised and will think twice about invading anybody’s car. Not to mention, having those cameras will save you lots of money when it comes to liability insurance. Some visitors who park their cars in your parking lot my claim that the construction of the parking lot has caused them to make an accident, while in reality, the damage to their car was solely due to them. This can be easily proved by referring back to the recorded security footage.
