Two families that say they were served ice cream containing human excrement at an eastern Sydney hotel are demanding the venue release CCTV footage of the incident.
The contaminated dessert was allegedly given to the group at the Coogee Bay Hotel earlier this month after they complained to staff.
The group says the hotel has tried to discredit their claim in the media.
But one of the women who ate the ice cream, Jessica Whyte, says the footage would clear up any doubt over their story.
“We are requesting that footage so that we can prove to everyone that this was a horrific situation that we went through and it is just grossly unfair how we’ve been treated,” she said.
The New South Wales Food Authority is investigating the claim.
The Food Authority has sent enforcement officers to the venue and says it will work with hotel staff, the families involved and the police to get all the facts.
One of the women who ate the ice cream, Tina Elliot, says the hotel has left many questions unanswered.
“I can’t imagine really that it was so much targeted to us,” she said.
“Maybe it was, we don’t know, but they don’t seem to be trying to find out which is one of the strangest things about it.”
