MILWAUKEE — After a man is seriously injured crossing a street in broad daylight, his family and police are asking for the public’s help to catch the driver who left him for dead.

Security cameras at the hardware store caught the incident as it happened.
There’s no doubt that they know that they hit him,” Don Colber, the victim’s brother-in-law said. “There’s no kidding around about that. I just don’t know how someone can sleep at night, knowing that.”
The crash broke Kevin Treskow’s leg and both wrists.
Treskow said he feels lucky to be alive and after watching the video of the crash, is amazed that he survived at all.
Treskow has two children, ages 12 and 13. His doctor said that he will walk again, but after several surgeries and physical therapy.
The Iraq War veteran said getting over the mental scars over the crash will be harder than anything he’s experienced.
“I was never so fearful of my life when I was over there, as I was when I got hit by the car,” Treskow said. “I walked out, [and the] next thing I feel a whack and I’m on the ground. Right when I got hit, one of the fist things that I thought of is my kids may not have a dad to come home to?”
The family is thankful for the surveillance video. Store worker Richard Stuckert said their cameras have seen a lot of action from the busy street and he’s not that surprised the driver didn’t stop.
“They could be on drugs, they could be drinking. There’s all sorts of reasons I would imagine,” Stuckert said.
A witness told police the driver was a woman and the SUV had Wisconsin plates.
The witness was unable to get a tag number but police said that vehicle should have significant front-end damage.
It also left behind an important clue.
“It’s actually missing the GMC logo from the grille that was left at the scene and that was recovered and placed on inventory,” Officer Dan Fardy said.
The veteran is asking anyone with information to come forward and help catch the driver.
“Please, if you know anything, call the police. This person, if they’ve done it once before, they’re going to do it again. People need to learn to take responsibility,” Treskow said.
“It’s a sad state of affairs, a hit-and-run accident like this and someone can take off. I don’t know how they can sleep with themselves,” Dan Colber, Treskow’s brother-in-law, said.
Police described the SUV as a light-colored GMC, possibly a Yukon or an Envoy with significant front-end damage, including a missing GMC logo.
They’re asking anyone with information to call the Milwaukee police.
