Despite the economic downturn, the demand for web-based network camera is growing rapidly.
The network camera transmits the security video via the Internet network. Although it is unreliable, it does not require the wiring work and has an advantage of better picture quality. So far this year, some local governments established a wide area security network based on the HD network camera. Then, major companies like Samsung and Cisco began the business.

Axis Communications, a leading company in the market, made a revenue growth rate of 50% during the first half. Despite the economic downturn, the company was able to supply its HD network cameras to local governments. In last month, Dong District of Ulsan introduced Axis’s HD network cameras for the regional security network. Also, the Global Village, an English speaking region of Busan City, also installed 60 channel HD network cameras for the security. Sony, Pelco and other network camera makers also showed a rapid growth by releasing HD products.

Axis President Yoon Seung-jae said, “The HD network camera is emerging as an alternative to an analog CCTV. The market has grown by 50%. Last year, the network camera market generated KRW 25 billion. But, this year, it will increase to KRW 40 billion.”
