You first connect the housing to the camera and pull the cables and wires through the mount to the inside of the housing. Then you connect the camera to the wires and cables and place it inside the housing. Then you lock up the housing and attach the mount, using screws or other means to the wall. Both the front and rear end caps are tightly sealed, keeping equipment safe from moisture, dust and insects. Power and video cables enter through connectors in the rear end cap. The front window is usually made of tempered glass, and some housings allow the top sun-shades to slide off for indoor applications.
