The GeoVision GV-650-8 is a DVR capture card that allows for eight video and two audio inputs and records in CIF, D1, and Half D1 resolution.  The GV-650-8 has a built-in web server, allowing the user to view surveillance remotely from a laptop or smart phone.  If an object triggers the alarm, the GeoVision system will send the user a text or picture email.  It employs MPEG4 and H.264 compression to convey the best quality videos.

Compression

GeoVision has unmatched quality and employs only the best compression modes.  GeoVH264 V2 compression technology is used in all GV cards.  It also utilizes Geo-MPEG4 codec, which allows the user to view AVI files copied from another GV system.  The Geo-MPEG4 utilizes advanced video analytics to recognize suspicious or lost objects and face detection.

iPhone and Android Compatible

GeoVision has a built-in web server, providing the user to view surveillance remotely.  It is possible to view videos from laptops, and more importantly, from smart phones.  The user will be able to inspect surveillance regardless if the device is connected to WiFi, 3G, or 4G.

Audio Inputs

The GV-650-8 comes with RCA audio inputs for microphones to record audio in a room. The GeoVision software gives user the full control to record audio by sensitivity and has the feature of live audio playback. When choosing a great microphone for audio surveillance we recommend ETS microphones.

Frame Rate

This GeoVision card captures video at 60 FPS.  The total Frames per Second is divided by the total number of cameras.  So if 8 cameras are connected, that would be a frame rate of 7.5 per camera.  Each camera’s FPS can be changed in the settings.  Below is a video running at 7.5 FPS.

Example of 7.5 FPS (60 FPS ÷ 8 cameras)

Built in DDNS

GeoVision provides each card with a dynamic domain name service (DDNS) that allows a user to have a custom domain name to remote in to their camera system from anywhere.  This is very important since most residential and small businesses use a dynamic IP address.  This will provide a static address to ensure that your system never goes down.

Resolution

The GeoVision capture card supports NTSC and PAL.  It also gives the option to choose from a variety of resolutions size such as CIF (352 × 240), Half D1 (352 x 480), and full D1 (720 × 480).  The software also allows a user to change the resolution for remote use to conserve bandwidth on the network.
