Viewing the Live Feed of Your Camera Leave a comment

Most security systems in the current day and age have the ability to record feeds and then the live feeds can be viewed 24/7 from anywhere. When it comes to your security systems, viewing the live feed that is offered by the system is a very important aspect. This blog will include a few simple ways that will help you view the feed from the security cameras properly.

Viewing the live feed using a mobile app or PC software

Most security cameras these days come with PC client software or apps for your android or iOS devices that you can use to access the live feed from your cameras. The steps are as follows:

  • Download and install the client either on your pc or on your phone
  • Launch the software and make sure you add the QR code on the recorder
  • Configure the surveillance system to match your needs
  • Whenever you want to change which camera you view, click on that camera, and see the live feed from that.

Viewing the live feed using a web browser

You will need port forwarding if you want to view security cameras by using a web browser. Every security camera has different apps and different ways to achieve this. But there are some steps that are similar regardless of what manufacturer you get your products from:

  • Get the IP address of your security cameras
  • Open any browser that you like and then plug in the IP address associated with the camera
  • Enter the login information
  • Find the proper HTTP port number used by the cameras you have
  • Login to your network router
  • Make sure to check the WAN IP address of the network router you are using

Viewing the live feed without the internet

Even if you do not have a high-quality internet or if you do not have the internet at all, you can still view them in different ways

  • Using 4G LTE cameras: You could use cameras that have 4G capabilities if you want to be able to access the live stream of your security cameras. These cameras have a 4G sim card that uses cellular data for data transmission. These cameras typically come with Wi-Fi connection but having the capability to work with mobile data makes them reliable even when the internet is not doing so well.
  • Using IP cameras for live view: Even without an internet connection, you can view live feeds from the Ip cameras. As long as the cameras are connected to the same local area network (LAN), you can simply plug them into a router to be able to see the live feed.
  • Using a network video recorder for live video: Security systems that use network video recorders have a private network that is created between the NVR and other devices that they are connected to. All you have to do is connect your VR to a monitor and you can view the feeds from the security cameras.
